While for the most part your hotel room or apartment is the easiest place to partake in our services, there will be times where it is just not feasible.
So your options for a short term stay are usually either a Love Hotel or a Rental Room. But what is the difference really?
Love Hotels
General
Given the option, we would normally recommend a Love Hotel, especially for longer courses. Love Hotels are a little more conducive for “Love”, and after all that is what they were designed to be.
Just like any other hotel, there are different levels of service, room size and amenities available in Love Hotels. And each of these levels will come with a different price tag. For standard (not over the top) love hotels, you could expect to pay between 5,000 ~ 7,000 yen for 2~3 hours, but this will all depend on the time of day. A lot of Love Hotels will require that you pay the “overnight” rate if you enter after a certain time. We have seen this as early as 9PM, but most seem to be around midnight. Expect to pay at least 12,000 yen for the overnight stay.
Booking
Generally speaking, most Love Hotels cannot be booked in advance. They largely operate on a “first-come first-served” basis, and when you walk in there is usually a listing of available rooms. If there are none, just move onto the next one as they are usually clustered together.
The next issue you may encounter is language. You can expect that there will be very little English, and while picking and paying for a room is easy, when it comes time to collect the key and be told the “rules” you may run into an issue. But we can help there. Simply give us a call when you get stuck and we can talk to the attendant for you and get everything sorted.
The Rest
Once you have the room number, just drop us a message or give us a call and we can send your companion directly to your room. It might take a little while for her to arrive, but use the time to avail yourself of everything on offer. This can be from all you can drink beer, unlimited Japanese AV on a big screen TV, sometimes a Jacuzzi. All depends on the hotel.
The only thing that you need to be weary of is the time. The biggest fear of most Love Hotel attendants is that you will not understand when they call to say your time is up. So, best to move on before they freak out.
Rental Rooms
General
Rental rooms are usually good for quick courses (90 minutes at a stretch, but 60 minutes or less). Rental Rooms are very small, usually containing just a small shower room/toilet, and a single mattress. Definitely not for the claustrophobic. But Rental Rooms are usually plentiful, and if walking the streets hoping to find a Love Hotel at 1am on a Friday night does not appeal, then this is probably for you.
As a general rule, rental rooms usually go for around 2,000 yen for the first hour, then around 1,000 yen per 30 minutes after. These are just indicative however, and depending on the location the prices can be much higher or lower. Rental Rooms can be a little harder to find as they are usually located in nondescript buildings off ground level.
Booking
This is the easy part. We can book rooms in Rental Rooms for you. The only caveat is that you need to be reasonably punctual. And this is for a couple of reason. Firstly, if you are too much past your allotted start time, you will loose the room. On busy nights this may mean you can get another booking. The second reason, if you miss a booking by too much or are a no-show, they will usually not allow us to book there again for while.
Once we have the booking, we will send you the address (usually a google maps link) so you can make your way there. If you are going to be late, just let us know and we can let them know. Better for everyone. When you arrive, just show them the shop name (we will send it to you in Japanese), pay the fee, and they will allocate you a room.
The Rest
The room when you enter it will be quite sparse, just a tub of towels, a bed and a shower. Just letting you know so you are not too shocked…
As with the Love Hotel, you will need to vacate the room before your time is up as these rooms can be pretty high turnover.
Where to Find Them?
Love hotels are just a Google Maps search away, and will usually show you both Love Hotels and Rental Rooms mixed together. General rule of thumb, Rental Rooms are usually classed as 2-Star or lower, Love Hotels 3-Star and above. Just check the description of the hotel, it will usually be “Love Hotel” in both cases.
